QC Splash Pad

Last week, my SIL, Juli, invited us to go to a community splash pad with them. And since we dont very often pass up a trip that involves playing with water, we excitedly agreed. Juli helped Spidey get used to the water.

Petey was so excited to play with Leezer.

Petey loved the "shower".

And apparently, the water tastes good. Yuck!

After they were all tuckered out from playing, Juli gave everybody a snack. And the big girls decided they were going to take a nap on the sidewalk. Just kidding, they didn't actually fall asleep right there.

I even snapped a picture of my new hair color for you. I dyed it dark brown on top (which needs another try since I missed some of the blonde spots) and the bottom a purplish-red. I love it! And today {or someday soon}, Ill be re-doing the top and adding some more red to the bottom. :)

4th of July Blocks

My sister in law and I are always finding new cute things to craft together. A couple months ago, she asked if I wanted to make blocks for each month of the year, like these ones. We bought all the wood and started sanding them together but never got around to doing anything else.
The other day, Petey and I were bored during Spidey's naptime and decided to break out some of the wood and start painting. My happy helper and I finished painting the July and August blocks and had a ton of fun doing it.

After we finished the painting, we did something a little bit different than the original tutorial.

We added scrapbook paper. I only got around to adding July's scrapbook paper and still havent added the words on each block but we'll find time another quiet afternoon. :)

This has been the perfect craft for Petey and I to do together. It isnt extremely messy or difficult and she loves helping me and then seeing our crafts put up during their seasons.

And as you can see, after I left the room, Sneaky Pants touched the wet yellow block and then touched the blue one. But there's no way I'm painting over those cute little finger prints. :)

Grandma Guthrie

A couple of days into our Carslbad trip, my dad got a call that his mom had a stroke and probably wouldn't make it through the next 24 hours. We waited to hear more news and only a couple of hours later, he got the call that my Grandma had passed away.
It was hard to be away from everyone and the reality didnt set in until the actual funeral, which was held the day we got back from California.
Her funeral was beautiful and though I hate to admit it, the only time I cried was during our grandchild/great-grandchild musical number where the spirit hit me so strong.
I am happy for my Grandma because she has been in pain for a long time and has wanted to pass on but it's sad to see my Grandpa lose the one person he loved the most. I don't think it would matter how old you are, it never gets easy to lose your spouse. My brother was a pall bearer and is on the left side in the very front. The other pall bearers were all of my male cousins. My sweet Grandpa is the one walking right behind the casket.

At the luncheon, these cute little kids became best friends. We've babysat B lots of times and so he is already friends with my kids but J quickly became Petey's friend.

They held hands everywhere they went. It. Was. Adorable.

Dont let his "huge smile" in this picture fool you, B was actually crying because he didnt want to take any pictures. :)

It was a wonderful day, learning about my Grandma's accomplishments and celebrating her life.

Family Pictures 2011

Hello, all my peeps {and a special hello to my 2 newest followers. Hi!}. More of last weeks updates will have to wait because I have something very important to show you. We took family pictures yesterday and the wonderful Bethany already had some sneak peeks for me today. I am in love with all of them so far and cant wait to get my cd from her.

I was really excited to go with a more "punk" theme this time. Last year, we did yellow and navy blue and the pictures were adorable but when I won a pettiskirt from the fabulous Little Miss Tutu and picked out a zebra/hot pink skirt, I thought it would be fun to go with that idea.

Luckily, Target had the most PERFECT shirt for Spidey to tie in our theme better.
Brother/Sister love is the best!

Seriously, she is my little princess. I used to think that sounded kind of snotty but it's true. That girl is our princess!

Boss and I.

How much more perfect can I family picture get when you have two toddlers?! If only Boss and I were smiling a little bigger. I think our smiles were worn out by then. :)

The runaway.

The crazy but beautiful eyes.

Both Boss and I were cracking up when we saw this picture. These are TOTALLY our children! Silly little kidlets.

Well, I'm sure Ill have tons more of these cuties to share when I pick up the cd but for now, enjoy!

Also, PLEASE go check out Bethany's website. She has an awesome deal going on right now for summer that you are not going to want to miss. Seriously. Go now....or maybe...NOW.

Now?

Carlsbad: Part 5...Disneyland!

Thursday morning, we got up bright and early and headed to Disneyland!

Spidey had a cute Buzz hat and a Woody shirt.
The first thing we did when we got there was get a picture with Minnie. Karin and Chris waited in line for us and let Petey cut and take a picture with them.

Petey in front of the castle.

The first ride we rode was Peter Pan. Petey and George loved it.

Next we split up and some people went to ride Toy Story while we wait OVER AN HOUR to meet the fairies. Here are the kids with Vidia I was surprised because when we got to the front of the line, Petey said, "Look, Mom, it's Bidio." And though I couldnt figure out what she was saying, I figured it out when Vidia introduced herself.

The kids with Tinkerbell. Petey was starstruck! She LOVED meeting Tinkerbell and still talks about it.

The first ride for Spidey was one of the A Bug's Life ones. I dont remember the name but here is a collage of Spidey riding it. Ya think he enjoyed it?

Next, we rode Heimlich's ride, which was really cute. Again, Spidey loved it.

After lunch {and a couple of big kid rides}, we rode the Jungle Cruise. Petey thought it was hilarious and Spidey had a good time, even though he jumped every time an animal popped out of the water or made a noise.

We exhausted Petey and she took a nap halfway through the day.

Then, we all rode Buzz Lightyear's ride, which was one of my favorite kid rides. Spidey LOVED moving that joystick in the middle and turning our spaceship in circles. Day one of Disneyland ended with one sleeping child......and one exhausted child.

We started day two of Disneyland at the Haunted Mansion, which was way too scary for my kids. I felt really bad.

After that, we rode Pirates of the Carribean, which my kids loved and hated. :) If we saw skeletons, Petey made me cover her eyes but she loved seeing the pirates and thought they were funny. Next, we rode Winnie the Poog. It was a really cute ride for the kids and my big sis, Karin, loves Winnie the Pooh so she got a picture with the little kids.

As Andrea and I were taking the little kids to some more rides, we walked around the corner and saw Woody standing there with hardly anybody around him! I was soooo happy that Spidey would get to meet his favorite character. He ran up and gave him a hug but then took a step back, looked at Woody's face and started screaming. So as the mean mom I am, I made him sit for a picture still. :)

K Bear looked intrigued with Woody.

The next ride we went on was called Casey Jr's Circus Train. After waiting 30 minutes for the ride, I realized Spidey had pooped all over his clothes so we excused ourselves out of line and I changed him. After trying to get back in line with my sister, the lady running the ride asked if Spidey had a shirt. She said he couldnt get on without a shirt. Urg! I had planned to go buy him some clothes after the ride was over since we had already waited a while with the kids so......I put an extra dress I had packed for Petey on my son. I know, I know, worst mom in the world award!!!

Petey was giving me a thumbs up, saying she liked the ride. :) And dont worry, the first thing we did after that ride was go buy Spidey an $18 onesie. :)

We only stayed halfway through Friday. The last thing we did was watch the Barbershop quartet sing while we each split off to buy souvenirs. Each of our kids got two things. Petey had picked out pink princess ears on Thursday and Spidey got the onesie so they each got to pick one stuffed animal. Petey picked Pascual from Tangled (he is adorable!) and Spidey picked Bullseye from Toy Story. We are thinking that eventually, he will have every single character from Toy Story. :)

It was such a fun trip and I'm sad that it's over but I'm also happy to be back in my own home, doing our own routine.

Carlsbad: Part 4

Wednesday morning, we headed to the beach...again! :) My mom watched Spidey so I just took Petey down to play with my sister, Karin and her new hubby, Chris. :)I have no idea what she was doing. She made it a point to get as sandy as possible this day.

We walked down to the water and Petey says, "Look, Mom, this is my pose." Hilarious...and scary.

Me taking a picture of Karin taking a picture of Petey. :)

Then, we all headed to San Diego (it was actually planned for this day, my mom and I had just taken a spur of the moment trip there the day before since that's where she grew up). We drove by my favorite temple.

Then we went to Point Loma and saw the old lighthouse and many other historical things.

Petey made herself comfortable while we were waiting. :)

Grandpa and Spidey and Spidey's hat?

After the lighthouse, we headed to the San Diego airport to pick up Boss! I hadnt seen him in 5 days and was beyond excited for him to join us on the trip.
We all headed to Old Town and ate yummy Mexican food together. Uncle Chris was nice enough to give Hayley some change so that she could make a wish in the fountain. :) (I told her to wish that she could meet Tinkerbell...sneaky mom, since we were headed to Disneyland the next day).
Then, as a family, we all headed to the Mormon Batallion Site to get a tour.

Wilbur Force, Karin, Chris, George and Petey on the wagon outside.

Wilbur Force and Sammy volunteered and got to show everyone how the Mormon Batallion men dressed.

Then, we got to go outside and experience some of how they lived. Spidey loved pumping the water.

So did Miss Petey.

Grandma helping Petey pan for gold.

Apparently, Spidey needed two pans to find gold. :)

Petey learning how to wash clothes.

Petey got to stay at the condo with Grandma and Grandpa that night, since our hotel room would only allow one baby in a crib. Spidey was so glad to have his daddy there. Andrea and I went grocery shopping right after this picture and when we came back, both of my boys were cuddled up and sleeping together. :)

Stay tuned for Part 5!
