Monday FUNday and a Weekend of CrAzY

Here we are, Monday. The start to a new week, a new week that I am very much looking forward to.
I spent the first day of my weekend doing a lot of this---yes, I really did take a picture of you, Tc. Next time I'll warn you...or maybe I won't. I painted and untaped and laughed and layed down in the grass and was tackled by a 6 year old approximately eight times and listened to beautiful singing and SOMEBODY even touched me with their feet. Gasp! {I hate feet}

So that was Friday. Imaginably the best day I've had in a while.

As you read on Saturday, things started to get rocky for a bit. I had a hard morning and I layed around watching tv and/or dramatically crying about how life just isn't fair.

But then I decided that I was NOT about to spend an entire day feeling sorry for myself so I picked my butt up off the couch, cranked my music up, and started cleaning and de-cluttering and getting rid of 90% of Petey's toys and 60% of Spidey's toys. Booyah. Then I organized the family room and planned to add wallpaper to one of the walls but it was 2am so I decided it could wait for another day.

Sunday morning came and I realized I had forgotten another plan I was going to accomplish on Saturday---changing my hot pink hair streak to teal blue. I had 2 hours until church and since I suck at math, I calculated that I had plenty of time.

Ha!

I had to bleach it all first and that took over an hour and there was still some pink left. No biggie, right?

By the time I added the teal, I had 30 minutes before church which meant I had 10 minutes to leave the color in, 10 minutes to wash it all out, and 10 minutes to dry my hair enough to get to church. Hmm...
It didn't quite work out how I had expected and I went to church looking like a freaking Easter egg. Good thing it was actually Easter, right?!!

I came home from church and dyed it again. This time it took all the pink out but was left looking purple, blue, and green.

So after dinner, I tried ONE MORE TIME, and it is as good as it's gonna get right now. It's blue and greenish blue. Oh-freaking-well.

Maybe I should leave that crap to the professionals! Knowing me, I probably won't have learned my lesson and you'll probably hear about me doing this all over again in a few months.

At least I was the world's cleanest person yesterday after THREE showers.

So today, stuff got real. I was bound and determined to make today productive!
{Ha! Its 9am and I'm on the computer blogging.}
Petey had crazy hair day at school and I was so excited!
We sprayed it hot pink and put gold sparkles in it. I ratted 3 crazy buns and added a few ostrich feather bows. She loved it and we were both happy that this meant it was also a "dress down day" meaning no uniform!
I love uniforms but once in a while, it's fun to dress her up.

Then stuff got really real when I decided to sweep the floor in the kitchen...
Yes, that's the pile I was left with. Why am I showing you? Oh, I don't know, BECAUSE I'VE LOST MY MIND!
I even did the dishes---because I'm such an overachiever.

It's 9am and I think I deserve the rest of the day off. Oh wait, I'm just kidding. Maybe I'll put that wallpaper on today. Or maybe I'll get some laundry done. Or maybe I'll just sit on the couch.

We shall see...

Monday Madness (Truly what today has been)

I am not going to stay up too long to blog because I don't feel well. My stomach hurts more by the minute and I'm hoping when I wake up in the morning, it'll be mostly over.
I dont appreciate it, you stupid ovarian cysts! I'm pretty sure one of the cysts burst and from what I remember in high school, it only took a day or two to stop cramping and hurting so much. *here's to hoping*
I just thought I'd leave you with a cute (slightly blurry but still cute) picture of my monkey from Friday's open gym. That bar was 6 ft high and he has giggling when I let him hang there and stepped away to take the picture. He's my monkey, that's for sure. (Though, Petey likes to do the same thing when we go. Did I really get two monkeys?! Please, next kid, be a little more timid.)
Hope you've had a wonderful Monday. I had an exciting day filled with helping my family out and then ending our day by ordering pizza with them (Thanks, mom and dad!). I'd say that's a successful day!

And that's how Suze sees it.

PS: That boy is turning two in less than a month. What the????!!! Boss and I are having so much fun looking at things online to get him. It's one of our favorite things to do---buy birthday and Christmas presents for our kids. I love that it's something we usually do together and equally. Happy birthday shopping!

Monday Madness

Today was such a great mixture of madness and fun.
We started off our day by Petey coming in to our bed at 4:30am. I was too tired to fight her so I told her to hop in and what did she do? She fell back asleep and we all slept in until 9am. Ahhhh.
I gave the kids breakfast and then it was bathtime. I decided a bubble bath was in store before the major fun planned ahead. The kids helped me pick up the playroom and so I let them play in there for a while. Cant you tell the kids had just taken a bath by looking at Petey's crazy hair? Ha!

Petey came out while I was cleaning and said, "Look, Mom, I drew an octopus." I was pleasantly surprised that it did indeed resemble an octopus. One circle and a whole bunch of lines coming off of it. Good job, girly!

I cleaned most of the morning and let the kids play (Boss was out golfing with the boys in his family). I vacuumed, swept, mopped, organized, folded 7 baskes of laundry, scrubbed the kitchen, and cleaned the kids' high chairs. Phew!

And then it was time for the real fun to begin.

I started by teaching Petey about the letter D. She can recognize the letters A, B, and C and some others in the alphabet so we decided to color a picture of a Dd (I didnt take any pictures of her doing this) and Spidey got to color a blank piece of paper as well. :)

Then, Boss grabbed some paint on his way home and we let the kids go to town painting their pictures. I let them make a mess and have fun {which is something that is usually hard for me to do}. As you can see, Spidey took advantage of that and decided to eat some of his paint and also to rub some in his hair. Oh well. It's non-toxic and washable.

Petey used mostly pink but threw in a couple of other colors as well. :)

My plan for these paintings is that they will hang up in our playroom. There is not much on the walls in their and I have a couple of pictures frames that I got from a garage sale and painted white recently. I think these cute paintings will be the perfect addition to those bare walls.

After our painting adventure, we went to my mom's house and went swimming. It was still a bit cold so Petey and I only lasted maybe 20 minutes. The only extra clothes I brought were these Sparky pajamas so she was warm and toasty the rest of the day. :)

I absolutely love my parent's backyard. My dad is so good at growing fruit and vegetables and they have so many trees back there. We picked some apples and peaches to take home with us.

My Mom decided to enlist Petey's help in carrying some of the apples by putting them in the hood of her jammies. :)

And then we came home and I folded some more laundry. I know this looks like a disaster to you but it is full of organized clothing. The 4 baskets shown are filled with folded clothes, ready to go into their drawers in the morning and the clothes on the chair are just needing to be hung up.

Today was such a great day, filled with so many fun family memories. I feel so blessed to be a part of such a wonderful family.

Monday Madness (on Tuesday again)

There is a perfectly good explanation for why my Monday Madness is not being posted until Tuesday night this week. You will read about it below. :)

How did we start out our morning?

Cleaning the house as a family. I started on kitchen duty and when I walked in the family room, Boss was vaccumming with the kids. Adorable! What was the kids' reward for helping us clean?

Playing their new game from the Easter Bunny...Toy Story Memory!

Yay! Hayley got a match!

Who was too tired to make it to naptime?

This cute little kid. He fell asleep in such a funny position.

What did we do in the afternoon?

Played with Astrid, our new bunny. We love her SO much!

And then Boss sprayed Petey with the hose.

And then Boss got on the trampoline and sprayed her some more. :)

What does Spidey like lately?

Shoes! Hilarious that he put on Petey's rhinestoned blue flip flops.

What is Spidey's new favorite thing?

Stepping on people's toes and telling them to "Go!".

Who did we visit on Monday?

My grandma in her nursing home. It took a while for the kids to warm up but after Great Grandma gave them a chocolate chip cookie, they liked her. :)

What did we do as a family?

What we should be doing every week. We had Family Home Evening with my parents. My mom taught about how our spirits separate from our bodies...hence the gloves. :)

And where did I end my night? {also, what prevented me from blogging?}

I had a sleep study to see why I am snoring so much and if I possibly have sleep apnea. It was a nighmare!!! Can you see this unattractive picture of me hooked up to a million monitors? I could hardly move and I got maybe 3-4 hours of sleep even though I was there trying to sleep for 10 hours.

I had some lovely "hickies" on my face today from those dumb monitors.

Monday Madness

Who were my sillies today? Boss picked Petey up like this and twirled her around and around. I love it when I get to watch him being silly with the kids. What made my skin crawl today? Looking over and seeing a scorpion on my mom's curtains. Dont worry, her and Boss killed it.
What exciting thing did we do today?

We took a field trip to a fire station! I do habilitation with my younger special needs sib's and so I decided to take them on a field trip. [Thank you, Annie, for getting us a tour at your dad's station!]
Who had a blast at the fire station?

Well, all of the kids experienced a "blast", literally, of water. :) Steve {our tour guide} took all the kids (besides the two babies) on a ride in his special airport fire truck and showed them how he blasts water. They LOVED it! [You can barely see Petey's head in the back window of his truck.]

What did the kids think was really funny at the fire station?

Watching Steve go down the fire pole.

What did I think was adorable?

Seeing Petey try on the firefighter outfit. It was HUGE on her!

What did I love about today?

The beautiful afternoon weather. The skies were so clear and the wind cooled everything down.

Who got an owie at the fire station?

Poor Petey girl. She fell while trying to jump off of some bricks and scraped the side of her tummy. What did your Monday Madness look like?

Monday Madness

Where did I spend a good chunk of my morning? The doctor's office. Waited an hour and fifteen minutes to see him...but dont worry, I wasnt mad. I worked for my dad and understand these things happen. Instead of getting mad, I got bored and started taking pictures of myself. :) ha!Where did my money go today? The good ol' Hobby Lobby store. I am finally in a crafting mood again so hopefully I'll have some fun tutorials for you soon.
Where did my Spidey take his afternoon nap today?

In his high chair, poor boy.
What was Petey so excited about?

Her new skirt [more on that at the end of this post] mixed with the fact that I let her wear her fav rain boots to Grandma's house. She was dressed in true Petey fashion.
What was for dinner tonight?

Turkey fettucine alfredo. Mmm.
Who decided that their dinner would look better in their hair?

Hmm...who would do such a thing? [BTW, he was making a shy face from Uncle John when I took the pic.]
What did I make today?

3 new skirts for Petey...my girly girl who only wants to wear dresses/skirts lately.

Oh what a busy, fun, exciting, tiring Monday! :)

And that's how Suze sees it.

Monday Madness

What did we start our day off with today?

Bathtime [and real smiles]! Usually this is a nighttime thing but the kids REALLY needed one this morning.

Why was Spidey sad today?

Because Petey left on a play date. He was SO sad that she left him.

What did I accomplish today?
Juiving this bowl full of lemons.
2 cups in each bag to freeze, and then I'll pull them out the night before if we want homemade lemonade. Yum!

Who got lots of one on one time today?
Lucky Spidey. We got to go to the store and it was SO much faster without those two yr old whines. :)

What made me lose my cool today?
Lipstick everywhere!!!
Everywhere!!!
The culprit sitting in time out.

Verdict: The lipstick came out of the reg couches with Dawn dishsoap but the princess couch was a lost cause. I finally scrubbed it enough that it no longer rubs red off onto anything else so it will forever be stainless---oh well, still usable.

What did we do tonight?

Had my family over for dinner (notice anything trippy about the above pic?).
I made sweet pork, my special pico de gallo, and cilantro ranch dressing. Mmmm. Ill try to get the recipes up tomorrow. It was seriously so good!!! And I was proud that it turned out edible. :)

Hope your Monday wasnt madness---mine sure was this week.

And that's how Suze sees it.
